I'm not an expert talking about classical music, not even know about Pianos.. but i can recognize an special and wonderful sound, to hear a petrof piano really makes me lost my reality.
i heard in some occasions the sound produced for a home loving piano, and is not compare with a pretrof.
i wanted to write a bit of this pianos, but like i said before i'm not an expert, so i just going to make reference to some of the history of this Great Pianos.
A bit of History.
Over half a million pianos have been made at PETROF plant during the more than 135 years of its history.
However the way to the present importance and worldwide repute of the PETROF trademark was not easy. Mr. Antonin Petrof, founder of the company, originally learned the trade of joiner the same craft as his father.
He left for Vienna in 1857 where he learned to build pianos, which was very fashionable at the time. After his return home in 1864 he started to build his first grand piano in his father's joinery shop. Four pianos were completed in that shop during the first year and the business started to grow.
The Austro - Prussian War of 1866, with its key battle close to the city of Hradec Kr¨¢lov¨¦ stopped production for some time.
Since the original plant site soon failed to keep up with the increase in production, Mr. Antonin Petrof decided to set up a new, larger shop outside the city fortifications. He purchased a pub on the road to Brno and in 1874 moved most of the production there. Mr. Antonin Petrof also paid great attention to technical improvements and new inventions. Harmoniums were also in production.
In 1875 Petrof pianos were already equipped with the dual-repetition English action far sooner than piano manufacturers of Vienna. A year later the whole plant was powered by steam. He was also very lucky in his choice of sub-contractors. Co-operation with a small foundry, "Josef Porkert & Sons" from Skuhrov nad B¨§lou supplied him with full-armoured cast iron frames, the first use in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
In 1881 Mr. Antonin Petrof launched the manufacture of keyboards and actions. Upright piano building was started later on. A branch office with production facilities was opened the same year in Timisoara in Sedmihradsko (now in Romania).
The high-quality instruments appeared more and more frequently in households, schools, theatres, patriotic associations and in concert halls, Petrof pianos won a lot of awards and not only at domestic exhibitions. In 1894 PETROF pianos started to be exported abroad.
The success of the business caused Mr. Antonin Petrof to increase production further. In 1895 Mr. Antonin Petrof was appointed Court Supplier and Manufacturer of Pianos by the Austrian Emperor.
He began his studies on his natal city, Torreon Coahuila, in Mexico City, with Elizabeth Guerrero like a teacher and he keeps studying on the Escuela Superior de Musica of the Coahuila's University with Lydia Usyoapin and then on Mexico City with Alberto Cruz Prieto.
His debut like a soloist was at the age of 20 with la Camareta de Coahuila under the direction of Ramon Shade. he has participed with the Orquesta Sinfonica de la universidad de Nuevo Leon, la Orquesta de Camara de Bellas Artes, la Filarmonica de la Ciudad de Mexico, la Orquesta de La Opera del Teatro de Bellas Artes y la Camerata de las Americas.

Now a days he works with the Coordinacion Nacional de Musica y Opera del INBAL, he improves his Piano interpretacion with Jorge Federico Osorio.
